What is THCa?
THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the raw, non-psychoactive precursor to THC found naturally in cannabis plants. When hemp flower is tested for compliance, it's the Delta-9 THC level that matters — and raw THCa flower naturally contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.
How Does It Work?
When THCa is heated (through smoking, vaping, or cooking), it undergoes decarboxylation — a chemical process that converts THCa into Delta-9 THC. This is why raw cannabis doesn't produce psychoactive effects, but heated cannabis does.
Why Quality Matters
Not all THCa flower is created equal. At ILLEST HAZE, we focus on:
- Genetics — We source from award-winning breeders
- Growing conditions — Small-batch, craft cultivation
- Terpene profiles — The entourage effect matters
- Lab testing — Every batch is tested for potency and purity
- No PGRs or pesticides — Clean, natural flower only
THCa Percentages
Our flower typically ranges from 27-39% THCa, putting it on par with top-shelf dispensary flower. Combined with rich terpene profiles, our strains deliver a full-spectrum experience.
The Legal Landscape
Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is defined as cannabis containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC on a dry weight basis. THCa flower meets this definition, making it federally legal to purchase and ship.
